CITY SIN
Part One: First Contact

Roger almost died when he read the memo from Mr. Stevens:

WALLACE – Something came up, can’t go to meeting this weekend. You and Fernandez are going in my place. Talk to him for more info. – STEVENS

Roger hated Alejandro Fernandez! He was the single most annoying person Roger had ever met – a complete “man’s man.” He just oozed masculinity, from his dark, South American skin, to muscled body, to his gorgeous honey-brown eyes; from bragging about his sexual prowess, to bragging about his athletic prowess, to bragging about anything that came to mind. However, no one else at the office saw him that way. They all liked him, and viewed him as funny, charming, and a great buddy. Roger, on the other hand, felt something very different from friendship. However, he didn’t think that someone as manly as Al could ever accept his sexuality.

“Why are the hot ones always jerks, obnoxiously straight, or both?” pondered Roger, shaking his head. His long, straight, light auburn hair rubbed against his shoulders as he got up and went to find Alejandro.

Alejandro almost killed himself when he read the memo from his boss.

FERNANDEZ – You and Wallace are taking my place on that trip this weekend - I can’t make. Reservations are at the Ritz on 3rd and Grand. Meeting is just a technicality. Tell them I have a bad flu or something. Hand them these papers, tell them to look them over with their lawyers, mail to me by the 1st. Flight leaves tomorrow @ 8 AM, returns Thurs @ 7:30. Wallace is looking for you for info. – STEVENS

Although the Ritz sounded nice, there was not one person whose company Alejandro would enjoy less. He couldn’t stand Roger Wallace. The man lived in a bubble. Al had been trying to get in the guys pants since the first time he met him. ˇDios mío! That man was as cold as ice, except that he was so damn hot! That thin, lightly toned body, pale skin, captivating green eyes, and cute little mouth. And that hair, that long, beautiful brownish-red hair just perfect for grabbing onto as you rode that cute –

Alejandro decided he better stop that train of though before something embarrassing happened. Besides, it was only a fantasy – it would never happen. He tried every trick he know on the guy – the bragging, being friendly, being macho, even tried hard to get – but to no avail. This was a different experience for Al, because he had always been able to get any man he wanted – gay, straight, neither – anyone. ˇAy! Roger was such a jackass. Si solamente, si solamente…

Alejandro sighed. “Why are the hot ones always jerks, obnoxiously straight, or both?” he wondered. He sat back in his chair and began to glace through the huge pile of paperwork he was supposed to deliver.

Alejandro was reclining in his chair at his desk when Roger approached. Even though he saw Al every day at the office, he still had to catch his breath. Slowing his heartbeat and breathing deeply, Roger walked up to the desk.

“Hey, Al, did you get that memo from Mr. Stevens?”

Alejandro whipped around at the sound of Roger’s silky-smooth voice. It rang like music in his ears. Alejandro breathed in deeply, and struggled to control his heartrate. “Yeah. Uh… here it is!” he said. Then, realizing he had a stupid smile on his face, immediately erased it. “Our flight leaves at 8 tomorrow. We’re staying at the Ritz.”

“Okay, I’ll meet you at the airport at, say, 7:30?”

Roger couldn’t believe it! He didn’t know what he did wrong. There was Alejandro, smiling, but the second he saw Roger, goodbye happiness! Struggling to control his emotions, Roger walked out of the office. He hoped he’d be able to control himself on this trip.

Roger seemed to storm off very quickly. Al was confused – what had he done? He hoped the entire trip wouldn’t be like this.

The plane ride passed uneventfully. Alejandro slept most of the way. Roder occasionally tried to push him off his shoulder, but he actually liked him there.

Something did happen on the cab ride to the hotel. As the cabbie tried to get them through the seemingly endless traffic, Roger and Alejandro actually started to talk. Roger got very into the conversation, and started to use his hands. In fact, he was gesturing so emphatically that his hand – accidentally – ended up just past Alejandro’s leg. Roger might have let it stay there a bit too long.
“Fuck!” thought Roger as his hand recoiled violently. Luckly, Al didn’t say anything. He just smiled curiously.
