I'd say this is better than the first chapter. And I'm also, a little bit curious as to what happens next. I'm sure the doctor and the patient will get together, but by the rate you're writing, they probably won't get together til chapter 10.

I agree. It looks like the doc and Nick won't get together until chapter 10, try to make the chapters longer. Chapter 1 and 2 could have been blended together to make 1 big chapter.
You need to inform the readers of how Nick's father was convicted.There' a big gap between Nick being cut and Nick waking up in the hospital. May be that can be your next chapter.
Good story but try to speed it up a little before your readers lose interest.
