It Took a Good-Bye

(Part 1 from 2. Fiction.)

My farewell party was normal considering my relative popularity around the office. A good number of people filled the outer room of the bar that we'd played cards at so often after work, but it wasn't a crowd.

The night began with a roast that had left me a little irritated, until everyone flooded me with drunken hugs and compliments. I'd spent a couple hours standing in one spot as everyone took their turns telling me how they'd never forget me and that we had to keep in touch... bullshit. I was bitter because the only person I wanted to fawn over me, Jeff, stayed at the other end of the room. He occasionally smiled in my direction and raised his beer, but he hadn't said a word to me the entire night.

I'd been crushing on him for two years without getting anything in return. I had always assumed he was straight, but my libido had never cared. And even though I was old enough to keep myself from getting fixated on things I couldn't have, Jeff remained an infatuation to me.

Eventually people sang "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow", or at least it would have been if they were sober. And that was about the time the people slowly started making their exits. By 11:30, there were just a few of us left. Three of us sat at a table and Jeff stood talking with one of the girls by the wall. One of the guys at the table with me, I didn’t know him even thought I’d seen him around the office, fell asleep after a while and the other guy, Sam started drawing on him with a pen.

I pretended to be amused, but in reality I couldn’t care less… all I wanted was for Jeff to come over and say something – anything before I left. I’d made efforts over the years to get somewhere with him, but nothing ever panned out. We’d gone to the movies, seen concerts, even had dinner but it never seemed to matter. To make matters worse, he’d found a girlfriend six months ago and things seemed to be getting serious. All in all, I’d given up on anything ever happening, but I still wanted a good-bye.

As if he heard my thoughts, Jeff and the girl began walking over to the table. When they got there, he looked at Sam drawings and laughed. “Remind me never to get drunk around you,” he said with his country drawl. He flashed the quick, charming smile that he always seemed to have ready and Sam laughed.

“Well, I guess we’d better get him home,” Sam said. “Someone wanna help me get him in my car?”

The girl with Jeff nodded, “Sure, I need a cigarette anyways.”

Sam put the guy’s arm around his shoulder and stood up, walking him towards the door. Jeff followed them, and my heart sank thinking he was leaving.

But he turned to me and put his hand on my shoulder, “Can you wait here while I get the door for them?” he asked. “I wanna talk with you before you go.”

“Sure,” I said, my spirits rising. I tried to calm myself as Jeff opened the door for Sam and walked back to the table.

“So you’re really leaving me?” he asked sarcastically.

“I just can’t handle not having you all to myself,” I replied with fake sincerity. Of course, nothing could have been closer to the truth.

He laughed. “I’m going to miss your jokes, man. You were always funny.”

“Too funny for one place,” I said, “that’s why I gotta take this show on the road.”

He laughed again, and when he was done he looked at me intensely. “I really will miss you brother.”

“Me too, Jeff.” I studied him for a moment. He seemed genuinely sad. It was right then that I decided to take a chance. After all, I wouldn’t have to deal with the consequences. I was leaving the next day. The bar wasn’t the right place though.

“Walk with me to my car?”

“Of course.”

The two of us left the bar and walked down the street to my car. The area was dead at this time of night and I had parked off of a side street that even deader. When we got to my car, I turned to him and looked him the eye.

“You take care of yourself. You’re an awesome guy, and I hope you have a great life.”

He looked down at the ground. “So I guess this is really good-bye then, huh?”

“Yup.”

“I guess I always figured we’d have more time…” he said.

“More time for what?” I asked hopefully.

He looked me in the eye, and I thought I saw longing. Then he said, “Just… to get know each other better.”

I couldn’t resist anymore. I reached out for a hug and he came closer. Our arms were around each other for a minute and then as we pulled apart, I held him. He looked at me with a little confusion.

“I’m sorry,” I said. And I leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek. He jerked away instinctively and I let go.

“What?!” he said in shock.

“I’m sorry,” I said, “I just had to let you know… how much I care for you… I’ve liked you for so long… and now I’m leaving… and I… I just wanted you to know that I really like you… Sorry.” And I walked around the back of my car to the driver’s side door in a rush. As I opened the door, Jeff was there and he pushed it shut. He looked at me without blinking for a minute, and the he put his hands on my shoulders and pressed me up against the car door.

“I…” he paused for a long while, “You don’t need to apologize, Jay.” He smiled at me softly. “I’ve liked you since I first saw you in my interview… But… I never thought… I mean, you really like me too?”

“Does this answer your question?” I asked as I leaned in again to kiss him. I thrust my tongue into his mouth and tasted him. I couldn’t believe that this was finally happen. The ecstasy was indescribable.

He grunted softly as he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer. I ran my hands up and down his back, down to his lean ass. Jeff was slender, and a full two inches taller than me at 6’2”. I’d never made-out with someone taller than me, and it got me off the way his neck stretched down to kiss me. I slowly kissed his smooth, sexy neck and he moaned in satisfaction.

Jeff spun me around so that I was against the car and ran his hands up my shirt. As he pressed hi s body against me, we continued to kiss and I couldn’t help running my fingers through his thick red hair.

He began nibbling on my ear, and whispered “God, you taste good.”

“So do you,” I answered.

“Baby, you haven’t even tasted the best part,” he said with his disarming drawl as he looked into my eyes and smiled.

“Let’s get out of here so I can fix that,” I said nodding towards my truck.

He got in and I quickly drove us back to the office; everyone had gone home and the place was empty. We hurried into one of the small, sound-proof conference rooms at the back, and I threw an easel up against the door to block its small window door just in case. Jeff tossed his shirt off into the corner and for the first time I saw his cut , slender body… it was awesome.

“Come here, brother,” he propositioned as he undid his belt, “show me what you got.”

I quickly pressed myself on him, and he pulled my shirt off. I kissed down his gorgeous body, tonguing his nipples and biting softly at his pelvis. I pulled his pants down and slid his tighty-whities lower so that his pubes popped out. Meanwhile, his stiff tool bulged inside the taught fabric of his underwear as I thoroughly drank in the smell of his pubes.

He moaned as I rubbed my face in his man-bush and teased his cock and balls with my hands.

“Lord, I’ve been waitin for this so long,” he said.

“That makes two of us,” I replied looking up at him longingly.
