David strolled casually into the park, doing his best to look cool. He glanced around to see if he could see Jack. He wasn't there. David looked down at his watch.

10.54 it read.

"Oh well" David thought to himself, "I guess he'll be here in a minute. I'll just have to wait"

So David walked calmly and slowly towards the nearest bench and took a seat. That was when he noticed that Jack's car was in the samll parking lot outside the park. He casually glanced around again, this time looking more carefully. Still, there was no sign of him.

"What's going on here?" David asked himself, muttering under his breath.

Suddenly, he felt the hair on the back of his neck stand on end and his whole body quivered as he heard loudly whispered words echoe through his head - "Your not alone David!".

David's head shot around to face whoever was behind him whispering in his ear. To his surprise, it was not Jack. It was Joe. Joe was an old friend of his who he and Jack used to go to school with.

"Oh my god, it's you" David acknowledged slowly and in shock, "How are you, I haven't seen you in ages".

"I know," Joe replied, "it's been what, a year?".

"Yeah it must be"

"So, why are you sat on this mouldy old bench on your own looking shifty?" Joe laughed.

"Oh I'm waiting for Jack" David answered, "he should be here soon, I'm supposed to be meeting him here at 11".

"Cool, how is he anyway?"

"He's good, just the same as ever really" David giggled in response to the question.

He debated with himself whether or not to tell Joe about them or not. In the end he decided against it for now, he wanted to ask Jack first just in case. Joe was a good friend and David would have trusted him with his own life, but he didn't want to risk what he had achieved with Jack. Jack made him feel special, and David wanted to keep it that way.

"Ok, I was just on my way to the shop to get a few things, I would ask you to come with me but your obviously busy. Give me a ring and we'll get together at some point and catch up with each other" Joe commented.

"Sure, that'll be fun. I'll look foreward to it!" David replied.

"Well it's good to see ya anyway mate, I gotta go so I guess I'll see ya soon".

"Yeah alright, bye then" David said.

The two friends said their goodbye's and gave each other a friendly hug. It looked totally innocent in the eyes of everyone in the park, or at least, everyone except one person. Jack had just appeared around the corner of the car park and the first thing he saw was his new lover in the arms of another man. Not just any other man either, but someone he knew, trusted, respected. One of his best friends. He was in shock. He couldn't look. He felt his heart begin to cry out. He didn't know for sure what was happening but he sure didn't like it. He ran to his car, got in and started to speed away.

That was when David broke away from his embrace with Joe and looked up into the car park. What he saw confused him. He just saw the back of Jack's car speeding out of the small parking lot. He just stood there in silence as his lover and best friend sped away from him. There was nothing he could do to stop it. He was confused, he didn't realise what was going on. He had so many questions swirling around it his head. "Why was Jack's car there?", "If he was already there, why did he keep me waiting?", "Surely he wouldn't accuse me of cheating on him, would he?"...

David froze up and began to weep slightly. He couldn't believe this was happening already. They had only just realised their feelings for each other and now, was it really all over already?
