“What? Are you serious?”
“As serious as a person on his deathbed.”
“You’re kidding me. Right?”
“Can’t you see on my face?”
“How can a face define sexuality?”
“Sexuality?”
“Well you said you are gay.”
“Oh that. I meant it in sense of word, ya know, as in happy!”
“What?” now he was actually shocked, more because his plans had shattered and he had not devised a back up.
“Were you expecting something else?”
“Nononononono. Aaaiii was just, uhhh……… well, fuhget it.” James exaggerated the I, solely due to thinking of a suitable reply.
“Cool.” He said but knew, SOMETHING WAS FISHY.
“Urm…. If you don’t mind can I just take some time to prepare myself for the interview?” Ayaan asked.
“Hmmm.” He said not actually listening.

James had not expected this from Ayaan. James always knew Ayaan since they had met in a chat room on the internet and had become friends. Ayaan confided everything in him, even that he was gay, but now when he denied it, it came as a shock to James. Probably because Ayaan had told him that he was open to strangers. What he meant was friendly but James thought that Ayaan had lied. James knew Ayaan because he had seen him through the webcam. Ayaan had not or rather did not want to see him because he thought he would fall in love with someone sooooo good if he saw his physical features. However, this had not stopped him from stripping off for James when he was horny.

James never actually loved him. It would be too big an emotion, but felt really really protective over this person. When Ayaan told him that he would be flying down to acirema setats, he along with Harry had flown down here to guide him safely to his country without actually letting Ayaan know his identity. This was mainly because Ayaan told him that he did not want to enter into the fantasies of having a boyfriend because he could not afford the risk.
The country where he came from and his family were excessively orthodox especially because he was the torchbearer of the family name and the prince of his state. Though he never got to enjoy the royalty because his father wanted to be a self made man and not earn success by flashing the tag of the being a prince.

James had secretly hoped to make him realize that what he truly wanted was more important than kingship and so he had PLANNED in getting him to agree that he was gay.
By now Ayaan was snoring lightly and probably everyone else but James had only now realized that it was night. He covered Ayaan under the sheets provided and pushed his seat back to make his night more comfortable.
“Thanks. That was really nice of you.”
“Hey you were snoring right?”
“I make such noise to convince people that I’m asleep. But I don’t fall asleep whenever I am journeying. I have a fear that somebody will run away with my stuff and I’ll be forced to beg for survival.”
James smiled. “Don’t worry I’m there.”

“Well that makes me worry about my belongings even more.” He smiled cheekily.
“So you aren’t really sleepy?” asked James.
“Nope.”
“Alright then let’s talk about our lives. You know this way we’ll get to know each other and we can spend the night too.” James suggested.
“Ok. But mine is a really bad melodrama.”
“Doesn’t matter.” He said. “Lair” he thought.
“Well, my name is Ayaan Humble Suri. The prince of Ranjhor. My father was to be crowned after I was born but he left the state to earn something on his own credit and not because of being a prince. And I could not enjoy the royalty. We were never cut off from Ranjhor, but never even involved. Now my father is no more and it was tough to make ends meet, as my grandpa had disowned him. Though it’s not a problem now but still it was my dad’s wish that we never eat a morsel from their plates that was handed out as a sign of generosity, for it’ll always be a bad remark on our characters.

Therefore, I took a vocational degree and now I am going out to earn so that my younger brother can study. Few days before leaving our royal guard came to inform that even if I deny it I will have to accept the crown after 4 years, when I turn 23 years old. I will not be myself, ha ha. In fact, I will be the King Suri. I cannot have a life of my own. I cannot be myself.

I have never shared many of these things even with my best friend who knows all me deepest secrets. Somehow, I could pour it out to you probably because you remind me a lot about him. Your humor, your words and all. So it felt like I was talking to him.”
“But why haven’t you told him?” James asked.

“He’s too protective when it comes to me. He is a jovial guy and I didn’t want him to waste his time and energy pondering over my problems and trying to fish me out of them. I fell like I’ve betrayed him in our relationship of deepest trust and understanding but it was necessary.” He replied. James thought he saw a teardrop in Ayaan’s eyes but the next moment it was gone.

“So what’s his name?” James asked.
“dunno. I call him Shona.”
“Shona?”
“it means sweetheart.”
“And you don’t know his name,”
“We are pen pals.”
“As in?”
“We met in a chat room.”
“Where does he live?”
“Acirema Setats.”
“Is he handsome?”
“Maybe. I’ve never seen him.”
“You will be staying at his place.”
“No. I don’t want to see or met him, for personal reasons between us.”
“Will you live with me? I live alone and your workstation will be really close. Please don’t say no.”
“Well then let me think over it.”
“Sure. So if you guys accidentally meet or if he meets you without telling you will you feel bad?”
“I’ll be really happy.”
“K then good night and tell me the yes before we reach Amsterdam.”
“Yes. I dunno why but I want to accept your invitation. My intuition wants it to be a yes so I accept your invitation. But I will give you a rent which you won’t deny.”
“Why else would I keep you at my place.” James said cockily and both laughed into the dark night joking until the depth of the night swallowed each other into a deep sleep.
