While driving back, I took my slave document and the scanning device out of Orsty’s envelope. I placed the document and the scanner in the trucks glovebox with the documents from the wrestling arena, since Orsty was going to put Dellevi’s papers in the slave files at the mining company.
We arrived at the mine just about an hour before quitting time, and Orsty drove to the elevator. I got out with Dellevi in tow and headed to the elevator, while Orsty went to the office. I took Dellevi down into the pit, and looked around for the overseer. Once I found him, I told him who Dellevi was, and that he would be living and working at the mine. We then went to where Kwaku and Dauda were working, and Dellevi was surprised to see them. It took them a few minutes to recognize Dellevi, but when they did recognize him they all had a big hug fest.
I left Dellevi with Dauda and the overseer, while Kwaku and I went for my usual training session. I ask Kwaku to tell Dauda not to mention that I worked in the pit, that I wanted to surprise him the next day. Kwaku promised they wouldn’t say anything about my working with them.
After my workout with Kwaku, I hosed off and got dressed. I went to the top, and waited for Arawa in the Doctor’s office. I told the doctor about my friend Dellevi, and he promised to give Dellevi a good exam. While the Doctor and I were talking, Araway came in and said he was ready to head home. We walked out to the truck and headed home. On the way, Araway ask me all about my trip with Orsty.
When we got home, I went in and cleaned up, then went to the kitchen to help Orsty with the evening meal. Once at the dinner table, Orsty and I had to give Araway a full account of what happened. He ask about the reunion of the four of us, and how did the surprise go. I told Araway that they were all surprised, and it was a great reunion. I told him I didn’t think Dellevi understood about my situation, or my relationship with Araway and the mining company.
After our supper Orsty and I cleaned up the kitchen, then I went to my room for a shower before bedtime. I wrapped a towel around my waist, and joined Orsty on the back porch. I told him about the document of ownership, that I had put in the truck glovebox. He was surprised to hear that the wrestling arena had contacted the auction compound about my slave document and ownership papers.
I told him that the owner’s sun was working on updating my records when we arrived, and ask me to verify the information he had available. I told Orsty that the documents showed my ownership was transferred from Araway Mining Company to he Orsty, as owner. I told him that copies were sent to the arena, so we no longer had to worry about being found out about our true relationship.
He just laughed and said he was now the owner of two slaves, and that he now had some control over me. I ask him what he meant by that, and he said he could threaten to tell Araway about my new status. I pointed out that the same information could get him in trouble with Araway, as well. We both had a big laugh about it, just as Araway joined us on the porch. He wanted to know what was so funny, and all I could do was look to Orsty for help. Orsty quickly made up a story about my hugging Dellevi, and the strange reaction that Dellevi showed.
Araway just smiled, and said it must have really caught Dellevi by surprise, being hugged my a strange white guy. Araway said he was heading to bed, and for us not to stay up late. When Araway had left, I laughed and told Orsty that was fast action on his part. He said that was why he was the Master, and I was the dumb slave. We both had a laugh at that comment. Then Orsty said it was time for his slave to get to bed. We both turned in for the night.
