Beating the heat : Part 1

(Part 1 from 1. Fiction.)

Hi, my name's Franky. I'm 18, 6'1, tan, fit, and my black hair goes down to my shoulders. I'm in my senior year of high school, and I've been openly bisexual since my freshman year. This is the story of last summer, when a massive heat wave raised the temperatures to over 100.

I walked down the sidewalk, already overheated from the heat. Sweat beaded from my forehead, and my breaths came out in heaves. A sudden ringing from my Iphone brought me out of my daze. I reached into my pocket and glanced at the screen. A picture of my friend's face appeared and the word "Daniel" was placed above it. I quickly answered the phone. "Hello?" The phone was silent for a few seconds.

"Hey, it's me, Daniel." He said. " Hey! What's up? Why are you calling so early?" I glance at my watch, "School doesn't start for another hour!" I adjusted the backpack on my shoulders, and put my phone back to my ear. "Ya, sorry... I just wanted to know if I could spend some time at your place today.

My air conditioning broke today." More silence. "Sure! My parents are leaving for the weekend and they said some friends could come over." I said hopefully. "Okay thanks!" He said, and hung up. I shoved my phone back into my pocket, and continued walking to school, eager to get out of the heat.

The inside of the school wasn't any cooler than outside, but I got over it and walked to my locker. While I was getting my books out, Daniel walked up to me and tapped me on the shoulder. Daniel was 6'3, had dark short hair, and had a fairly nice build from his years in football. I turn to face him and smile. "Hey! What's up?" He smiles back and chuckles.

"Everything above eye level." I couldn't help but laugh at his jokes. Daniel was my best friend since 1st grade and had been strait all of his life. I hadn't realized I was staring at him until the morning bell rang. "Well, I'll see you later!" I said, closing my locker and heading to class. I was looking forward to Daniel coming over.
