Fire in the Firehouse 12

(Part 3 from 4. Fiction.)

Inside the cushy home that belonged to Nick before he married Marie, the redheaded vixen lay on her bed propped up with oversized pillows behind and all around her. She was flipping through the many stations satellite TV offered. She was more interested to know if the men she hired had accomplished their task.

Marie got up, walked over to a family portrait which she loathed the site of. She stood before it smiling. She knew full well what was in there, but it gave her satisfaction knowing what secrets stayed hidden in there. After a few passing moments she slid the picture back to reveal a hidden safe in the wall. The vindictive woman was the only one aware of its existence. She opened it up, took out some papers and muttered to herself, seething with pleasure of her ways. "My plans are coming together nicely. First there was you two in my way, now all I need to do is get rid of Nick and Colby and this place and all the wealth is mine. Shame Colby was able to make it home while you weren't." Thing was, she wasn't referring to Tori. A sinister smile stretched wickedly across her face.

A short time later there was a gentle tapping on the door. Marie scurried back to her bed, acting like there was nothing devious on her mind. There were secrets to keep hidden until the time was right. It was Nick. He'd made it home. He entered the room and greeted his wife, unknowing of what the vicious woman was plotting against his only son and other ideas she had for another time.

He walked over and kissed her as he always had. No inkling at all what his wife was plotting against his only heir to the family fortune. "Hello honey. How are you tonight? Good to see the heat wave is passing." She brushed off the affection. She honestly cared little about it.

The manipulative woman cared more about material things. "Never mind that. What did you bring me?" She was shallow when they married, but in recent years she became more cold and distant. Nick rarely had sex with her anymore. If she knew about Paige, Nick's secretary and lover, Marie would be fit to be tied. Being a healthy and still rather handsome man, Nick wasn't about to die sexually barren. He had needs and his bitch-wife failed to meet them. Luckily for Nick Paige traveled with him and she was in her mid-twentys and had an insatiable sex drive which had Nick feeling as young as his son.

The man, exhausted from his schedule, was stung deeply by his wife's words. Normally he fought back any and all urges to belittle the woman as it always wound up costing him more money. Marie would go on drinking and gambling binges to draw attention and swindle money from her husband. Most times using it as an excuse just to get money and put it away.

"You know Marie, would it kill you to maybe even fake sincerity to me? You're a cold, callous, evil bitch. And a whore to boot. Don't think I don't know about you boning the men you hire. The three you recently fired came to my office and confessed to your little shenanigans. But you know what? Fuck it and fuck you. I spoke with all three men and they reassured me they're safe from disease. But honestly, I'm never sticking my cock in that dried up clam you call a pussy. But I'll tell ya what you can do with it...Go fuck yourself."

Marie stormed up and was quick to confront her husband. "Look, asshole. I've been handling affairs around here for your pathetic ass. And maybe if you stayed around here and not off on business trips fucking any little floozy you can stick that miserable thing you call a cock, our marriage might be better off. But know, all you ever seem to do is work, work, work, work, work."

Nick snapped back. "Well, maybe if you got your habits dealt with you psychotic bitch like we talked about so long ago, we might have a marriage. Don't put the blame on me you sanctimonious bitch. I loved you with all my heart when we met and you were the one that had all these issues and refused dealing with them. Had you've done so, our marriage might still have meaning. But all you care about is bleeding me dry!"

Nick and Marie hadn't even been around each other 5 minutes and they were at it again. Nick vowed to himself he would have to find a way out of his marriage and soon. But it killed him knowing Marie would milk him for alimony and most likely wouldn't remarry so she'd not lose her checks. She had Nick over a proverbial barrel. He kicked himself daily he didn't think to make up a prenuptial.

Nick stormed out, grabbed his keys off the key board in the kitchen and stormed out. He'd drown his sorrows in a casino. He always kept clothes and toiletries in his car for such situations. If he got too sloshed, he'd stay the night. In the back of his mind he knew dinner with his son and his two best friends was looming and he couldn't be gone too long. He still knew Mitch only as a best friend. He longed to see his son and Drake. He smiled when he thought about them. He wondered if they were off having a wild time and making up for lost time. He thought to himself, knowing those boys, they're out getting all the pussy they can. If he only knew the situation they were in and it was because of his evil second wife...

Back in the forest Mitch hidden himself well in the tree and had the time of day on his side to mask his whereabouts. He had to be steadfast and hoped he could get hold of his abilities. It was these special gifts that they needed most to save their lives and he had the added pressure on him to get control of them.

Doubt began setting in on the man. He'd been through so much lately. His resolve was at its limits. He longed to be back home in bed with his lover. Arm in arm, making love. But he was immediately was shaken from that thought when he saw one of them men approach first. The other was only a few paces behind.

The dark haired man looked from his perch hoping to see where the other three had gone to. He could see traces of all three as they stood close hiding from the two men out to kill them. Not one of the three spoke. It would be almost impossible just the same even if the need arose. They all found their voices difficult to find from fear.

Mitch caught another glimpse, one that offered some encouragement. This time he saw his truck and Colby's too. They men on the ground didn't know how close they were. Mitch had no way at all to alert them of this. How could he get a message to them?

Somehow, as Mitch processed what he saw and had been thinking of getting Colby to safety, the message was relayed to Colby. Mitch thought he sensed his lover was aware of that happening but couldn't be certain. Colby knew instantly it was coming from the man he was in love with. He knew their trucks were nearby and just how to get to them. It comforted him knowing Mitch was doing all he could to insure they got out of the mess as safely as possible.

Colby made silent motions with his hands to inform the other two men what he saw. They recognized his motions right away. They smiled and nodded their confirmation and followed Colby as Mitch looked on. He realized what had transpired. Now it was up to him to draw these two further away or stop them all together.

The lighter haired guy began worrying heavily about his man. He wished there was something he could do to save him. But it was far too risky to venture back in the woods. The two men after them possessed guns. All he could do was wait. He got in his truck with Drake and instructed Cole to wait in Mitch's. Cole was in the driver's seat. If they needed to make a break for it, they wanted to be prepared.
