Amazing, you have me in tears. I love it... I hate it. It's so visceral, so real; I can feel the boy's anguish so much... because almost the exact same thing happened to me when I was growing up outside of Boston. I almost felt like you were speaking my own words, and only to me. I never understood why he and I never got to say goodbye, except that I know,(now), that his mom had seen us kissing in the woods behind my family's property (they rented nearby) and she beat him severely. I never saw him again, but, I'll never forget him. It was THE first kiss I had ever given and received that felt like love. This story completely brings every bit of it back (good & bad). Thank you. It's very well written, and it brings me back to a place I had forgotten, but it's an integral part of what makes me me. Drop a line & I'll gladly explain. Thanks again, & I'll be looking for more of your work.
