Of Heaven and Hell (Chapter 7) Haunting Memories

(Part 2 from 4. Fiction.)

In reality, bloodstones are only made in Hell, the floor of hell to be precious. The floor is littered with them. The eternal blood that drips from the tortured damned pours to the floor were the extreme fires crystallize the it, infusing their essence with a touch of the abyss, creating this perfect stone. Extremely rare, and highly sought for by rich mortals. It is the basic income of hell spawn. We go to lowly shops like Jack's, and sell them, they in turn make even more money.

I upturned the pouch and the stones dropped like fruit into a brass bowl Jackson kept on his counter. I snapped up a Jeweler's magnifying monocle, and began to slowly examine each one. “These is excellent, sir, a fine batch you've brought me. Three grand?”
“Jackson!”
“Sis-sorry sir, I meant three kilo grand?”
“The price is five.”
“Fi-Five! I can't I don't even have...”
“Do not bullshit me Jackson!” I interrupted him, slightly pissed. “You and I both fucking know you are a damn millionaire after all the gems I have brought you. So cut the crap!”
He sunk his head down on his shoulders an inch. “Forgive me sir, Five it is.”

“The hell it is, after that, its six!”
“Yes sir.” His face red, he knew better, with what I had just handed him. He could go to Tiffany's and easily get a million for the unprocessed stones. He walked to the other side of the counter, and placed his hand on a tile under the register. Just because his store was small, and look unkempt, Jackson was a rich fucker. The tile flew open on springs and under it was a keypad, Jackson typed in a long string of numbers and letters. When he had completed the tile fell back into place, then the entire counter, well the half with the register, all began to rise. I thick, solid metal safe came into view. Now Jackson began to spin the combination knob. With the funds he hide in there, he made sure it was safe. The safe resounded a dull thud, and opened. I reached inside and pulled a brown suitcase, And filled it with hundreds and fifties. When he was finished, he locked it and set the locks on the case, slammed the safe door. The safe quickly slide right back into the floor and was again hidden to the world. “Here you go sis-sir.” As he handed me the briefcase, that when I noticed the smell.

“Jackson?”
“Ye-Yes sir?”
“Repeat the agreement of our little arrangement?”
“Um... If I buy these stones, I will enjoy a very comfortable life.”
“And?”
“Cash Only?”
“And?”
“I neglect this storefront, make it look as though there is nothing worth doing business here...but, but you said the safe was okay, I can...”
“Its not the safe...”
“Sir?”

I increase the violence and volume of my voice with anger...”You are not to do business with anyone, any one! Other than ME!” I grabbed him with my one hand, I had let the camouflage faultier, and the demonic talons were clearly in view.
“I, I didn't Daze. I swear.”
“You are a fucking liar! I can smell him” I screamed, even a blind man could tell Jackson was terrified.
“I'm sorry sir, I'm sorry. She came in here demanding I tell her where you where? I didn't do any business with her, i swear.” He was it tears, I was instantly ashamed for what i had just done. I slowly sat him down, dusted his shirt off, and without really thinking, hugged him. I never hugged Jackson before, and it kind of caught him off guard, but he calmed down quickly after he realized i was sorry.
“I apologize Jack, i should not have jumped to conclusions, here...” I extended my hand and gave him two more bloodstones. I then laid my hand on his shoulder. “But,” he jumped, “Calm down, i was just going to ask about the woman. Could you describe her for me?”
“Uh..uh..um, yeah, well... She was rather short, well, my height 5 foot 8 inches maybe. Fairly thin, long black hair, down to her waist...” Then it hit me.”
“And her eyes, dark right? Glazed as though they were hollow?” His eyes widened.
“Yes, how di...did you know?”
“Her name is Tatosha, her sister is a friend of mine. Something bad is about to happen, thats the only reason i can think of if Tatosha is looking for me. What did you tell her?”
“That i never know where you are, and when we meet. That you decided everything.”
I smiled, “How did she take that?”
“I missing my desk lamp if you hadn't noticed.” He said, almost cracking a smile.
“Wow, she must be pissed, then what?”
“Well, she gave me this,” He rummaged though his pocket and pulled out a stone, resembling a glass marble, clear but with a black core. I was shocked, and quickly grabbed it from him and crushed it.

Needless to say, i scared Jackson. “I'm so...so...sorry!” he stuttered. I just looked him straight in the eyes, “It is not your fault, that was a 'catseye.' Nephilim and darker creatures use them for spying. She now knows I am here. Do not worry, we will both be gone by the time she crosses the Veil. I doubt her even gathering her strength.” That when i smelt i new scent, potent and vulgar, it had to be a demon, and a guild at that. “I am sorry Jackson, but i must cut this visit short. Excuse me.” I said as i quickly rushed to the door.
Right outside, toward the end of the alley, a gang of men were crowding. I looked around, i could not see Dawn. I, again, looked at the gang, and saw a glimmer of golden hair. The fire in my fire boil beyond extremes, and i began running, literally on the walls to get between Dawn and the thugs. I fell perfectly into my desired play, the trench coat whirled around me as though i fell from the sky itself. The majority of the men backed around, but one or two stayed in place, and... Farth'ak. Farth'ak was a guild, a self-made demon, one who trades his soul for power, though their power is not even a fraction to a half blood, much less me.
“Farth'ak, what is the meaning of this!?” I asked.
“Well, well, if it isn't my lil' friend Dazen. What brings you here, we were just about to have lunch, Care to join?”
“Find you lunch elsewhere. This one is off the menu!” I shouted, annoyed. Farth'ak did not like my response.
“Excuse me, but we had him first, beside, i know you don't feed on flesh. What do you want with him?”
“What he is to me is none of your concern. Just back off.” I said, hissing at him.

“I don't like being told what to do, and i will have him if i have to take him by force!” He shouted. The men in the gang began to come after me. I too off the trench coat and changed into my true form. A few of the men ran off, but the others just stop and looked around for weapons. Without even thinking, i began tossing them, like rag-dolls. One came at me with a chain, it melted against my scales. I talons ripped through another guys trash can lid shield as though it was paper. I just wanted to get to Farth'ak, he would stop this battle. Three men jumped my back, and i jettisoned them into the air with my wings.
I was just about to strike a blow to one of the men on Farth'aks' side, when i heard him, Dawn, tell me to stop. I turned to look at him, my creator, he was beautiful. He had transformed into he true form, light pured like water from his body. “Oh, oh no!” I looked at Farth'ak, he was petrified, shoving himself into the corner of the alley, trying his hardest to back away. Dawn just looked at him, looking, staring. “I didn't know, A Seraphim!”
“A Valigayne, demon, and you have been judged!” Dawn softly said. He rose his right hand, clad in, what looked like, liquid silver gauntlet. It shimmered, brighter than the sun. Dawn placed it gently on Farth'ak's chest. He screamed, bloodcurdling, I almost felt sorry for Farth'ak. And, in just seconds, he was gone, not even a mark of where he laid was left. I looked back at Dawn, who was know dressed back in the clothes i gave him, as he continued to look at the spot where Farth'ak was. He still wore the gauntlet, and it was slowly fading. He raised his head and i saw tears in his eyes, i felt some drop from my own eyes. My mind was a whirlwind of confusion, no doubt his was the same. Dawn just fell on me, in my arms, and all I could do was hold him.

Funny, i thought, one of the most powerful beings in the universe (minus to highest), and he was in my arms, a demon, something he could just as easily destroy as Farth'ak. It is still hard to believe, he said he was a Valigayne. An angel, a special angel, created for the soul purpose to obliterate any devil, demon, mortal, angel, etc... that crosses the Laws of the Veil. Mortals are not allowed to have physical proof that we supernatural beings exist, that would create a bias for free will. We must live under the senses of mortality. But, every once in a while, demons, usually full bloods, will try to recreate what lord Lucifer tried to once do. The Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, all were once started be a demon living in the mortals view. In which later, the Valigayne where sent to 'arrest' them, in a way, by casting them directly into Oblivion.
And I am holding one in my very arms.

We quickly returned to my apartment, I was even half-tempted to phase through the shadows, but decided against it. After we arrived back, the sun began to set, darkness again crawled, slithering, across the lands face. The city accepted it with open arms, as it was swallowed whole. The sky burned bright red right before the first star began to twinkle. It whispered, calling me, beckoning me, yearning for me to come and be with it.
But my longing to be with Dawn overpowered my primal, hellish, urges. He was so depressed, almost catatonic with sorrow, I did not know what to do. All I could think about with to be with him, hold him, calm him down. It broke my heart, and it hurt, I never felt pain just by seeing someone else hurting. I began to sob with him, stroking his hair, repeating softly, 'it is okay,' or, 'everything will be alright,' and, 'I love you.' He never spoke a word back, and cried himself to sleep. I just held him, sobbing, rocking him, cradling him in my arms.

I was awaken when I felt Dawn slip away from my arms. I jumped up, startled, thinking something was wrong. Dawn gently placed his finger to my lips, his eyes were still harboring a touch of sadness. “It's okay babe. I just need to go home for a little while. I need to find out some things.” He kissed my lips, I did not want to let him go. I broke the kiss to object, but he spoke first. “I promise I'll be back. I swear it on my love for you.” He swore as he kissed my hand. I grabbed at his own hand, and puled off a ring I had never really realized he wore before, and slide it on my own finger. “With this ring, I will always be with you, and if you ever need me, this will lead you directly to me.” and he kissed my hand again, making sure his lips touched the ring he just gave me.
“I do not want to lose you?” A smile slowly came across his face.
“You aren't going to lose me silly. You think you can get rid of me so easily? Now, sleep.” It was a request I could not refuse. As soon as he said it, I felt the impulse that just so compelling, I knew it was futile to fight it. Last thing I remember was him kissing me goodbye, and whispering 'I love you,' in my ear.

I was startled wake by something rustling inside my very room. It was still dark outside, in fact, it felt like the only reason I could see was because I was mostly nocturnal. The windows curtains were pulled, so no light from the outside could come in, and there was not a light on in the entire apartment, save the light from the hall.
But yet... I felt something, it was like a web, and I, the spider. I slowly turned, making it look as if I was still asleep, and place one hand on the wall behind my headboard. I felt to shadow, the darkness, that enveloped my room. Tuning myself it, making it apart of me, an extension of myself, and I felt them. There where six total, three low level guilden, one high level guilden, and a half-breed. They hide themselves rather well considering their handicap, so to speak. It must have been the half-breed's doing, only he would be that powerful, too bad I was better.

Then I felt a stronger stirring, as if they were preparing to strike at me. It would have been a successful assassination too, I might add, if it were against anyone other than me. Right before they began their attack, I struck first. The three lower level demons were quickly deposed of easily, the shadows swallowed them whole. The two high level ones, where cocooned within the darkness, just in case I needed them for later. The half-breed, though, I needed now, and as he leaped out of the blackness, a hand of haze snatched him, and made a fist around him. I rose from the bed and brought him close to me, “Let me go!”
“You are in my home, stalking in my room! You have no authority here! Now, why are you here, who are you.”
“We are here to kill you vermin!” He spat, struggling to escape.
“We?” I laughed. “There is no we here.” I opened the envelope the cocooned one of his comrades. He too was held firmly in a foggy fist, only gagged. “If you think you are in control, you are sadly mistaken!” I shouted and I waved my hand. The darkness shot out tentacles that ripped apart the gagged demon, as if he fresh bread and it a starving child. Even the bones were dissolved into dust and absorbed into the darkness. “Now, tell me everything.” I looked him in the eyes. His will was broken. “Who are you?”
“We were sent here to kill you, My name is Syl.”
“Why?”
“lord Beelzebub ordered us to find you and destroy you.”
“Why?”
“He says you are an abomination.”
“Why the hell is that?!”
“Your new friend.”
“What does Dawn have to do with this.”
“That I don't know.” There was a pause, I was furious, I wanted to rip Syl apart with my very talons. I sat up straight in the bed, I then realized I was nude. I, or Dawn, must have removed them as I slept. I brought the duvet to cover my bare body.
“What else can you tell me?”
“That's all I know, I was sent to kill both you and the angel.” I began to laugh loudly.
“You, take on an angel... that is golden. I felt you and I was out cold, you think you are any match for an Angel!” Than anger flowed over me, he was going tom hurt Dawn. “If I was to let you go, what are the chances of you coming back after me.” He was silent. “You are right, Beelzebub will slaughter you for failure.” His eyes lightened, “That is why I'm going to...” and I paused, “...kill you myself.” and I snapped my fingers and let the darkness have him, and his other comrade. He was going to hurt Dawn, he deserved it, and if I had let him go, there was a chance he would return to try again.
I sat there, continually thinking, 'what was going on?' Why are one of the high lords trying to murder me? The questions flooded my mind, what was happening around us. What was I going to do? How could I stop any of it? What if Lucifer himself was behind this? Would the army Legion himself come to take my life? He would be a tough opponent.

Legion, is a hive demon. An angel, whose separation from God, drove him insane. He began to infect others, bleeding his power and mind into other, lesser demons and even mortals beyond the Veil. He became a army in his self, and so far, unbeatable. Even though his other bodies could be defeated with ease, he could simply infect and spread his viral mind to others until the challenge he faces was defeated or, preferably, so tired that he could infect them and assimilate them into his collective. Almost like the Borg in 'Star Trek.' Indeed, he would be a true obstruction.
It was not until sunrise that morning that I decided to go direct to the source. Only in Hell will I find all the answers.
