There they were, standing in complete silence, looking out at the sleeply town below. Lights twinkling off, the town was going to sleep. Around them big snowflakes lightly fell to the soft powered ground. Sean took a deep breath, breathing in the cold, crisp mountain air. Josh stood there thinking it couldn't get any better then this. He wondered what would have happened if he didn't come up here for the day, Sitting at home, wasting away hours behind his computer. But I'm not, he thought. I'm standing here, beside my beautiful new friend, looking at the breathtaking scenery, and knowing that this is the steepest, and hardest hill of the mountain, and the last run of the night.

Sean looked at Josh, and Josh looked at Sean. They both dropped over the edge of the 80 degree drop. Skiing in complete unison, they blasted down the side of the mountain like it was the beginner's hill. Snow shooting out the back of their skis, Piercing cold wind and snow smacking at their faces. Sean Grinned from ear to ear. For the home stretch, they both hunched down, getting their bodies as close to the skis as possible. Flying straight down the hill at breakneck speeds for skiers, they both were completely euphoric and surging with adrenaline.

When they finally slowed by the ski lift over at the hill beside the one they just came down.

"You want to try for one more run?" Josh said

"Hell yeah. They should let us have one more don't you think?

"I Hope so! Let's go see."

They skated their way over to the lift operator.

"Hey..." Josh quickly glanced at the operators name tag. "Hey Jim, So do you think we can have one more run?

"I don't think so, a storm is coming, and the operator at the top already came down." He explained.

"Oh were big boys, we can get off the lift by ourselves. Please?" Sean said in his most sincere voice.

"Oh alright. But as soon as you get to the top you have to come straight down. And as soon as you get to the top, I'm going to shut down the lift.

"How are you going to know when we are off?" Josh Said. Sounding a little concerned.

"I will just count the chairs. This isn't the first time I did this, now go on."

Sean and Josh made their way to the chair, and they were off. On their way up they noticed that it started to snow harder, and the wind was howling though the lift chairs. Josh leaned over to Sean at yelled.

"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea."

"I was just thinking the same thing!" Sean hollered back.

They could just start to see the lights at the top of the lift. But they jerked to a complete stop. They both flung forwarded, and almost flipped over the bar. Both in complete shock, not knowing what to do.

"What the Hell?" Josh Yelled at the top of his lungs. Josh could still barely hear him.

"Pull your jacked over your head and huddle next to me." Sean Yelled.

"OK." Josh hollered, his voice cracking.

They pulled their coats over their heads and huddled together on the seat. It didn't take long before they were shivering uncontrollably. 15 minutes later, Sean pushed his head out of his coat and looked up. The light at the top of the hill was off. It was pitch black. Sean shook Josh.

"We can't stay here... were going to freeze to death."

"OK... What do we do?"

"We have to jump off the lift, and make it to the operator's booth at the top."

"Jump?!"

"It's the only way!"

"Whatever you say..."

Sean and Josh both clicked out of their skis, and they them off to the side. They couldn't see the hill. It was black nothingness.

"Do you remember how far down it was?"

"I can guarantee it not more then 10 to 15 feet."

"Why?"

"Because if it is... were done for."

They both looked down, each saying their own silent prayer. Josh lifted up the safety bar.

"On the count of three. One..... Two..... Three!"

Both heaved themselves out of the chair. Sean landed first, his legs buckling beneath him, rolled to the right. Josh landed the same way, also rolling to the right. Sean made his way over to Josh.

"Are you alright?" He Yelled

"I twisted my ankle, but other than that I'm great."

"Good... Let's go."
