War Boys

Hi I'm David, I'm 22 and live with my boyfriend/husband Jamie (who's 23), we have been together for 3 years but it feels like 3 days. In our area we had to go into battle for the war effort and got assigned to the trenches of russia (Together thank god). We had to leave our dream home behind but along as he had each other we would be fine. We only had to spend a short time at war but still it would be life changing... if we even come back. But the worst thing is we couldn't show we were gay!.

As we woke up to our first day we had to do "gun training" which was basically training you... How to use a gun lol, I know very imaginative. We were all terrible!. At one point I shot a bird !, I was well chuffed and of course Jamie thought I was adorable but of he couldn't show it but I could see it , in his eyes and smile he just wanted to give me the biggest hug and kiss ever!. We all improved with time and after 3 hours of training the sergeant said
"Ok your good enough ... carry on with this and tomorrow front line so get some rest"

We trained more but then of course to tempt my hubbie I asked "hey Jamie can you help me please"

He smiled at me and without a word he came over to help me, He stood behind me and got so close I could feel his hot breath on my neck, he aimed the gun and whispered always do it slightly to the side of the target depending the wind direction", He gently pulled the trigger and hit the target well on. I was smiling as he so quietly whispered "I love you baby" and kissed me earlobe, but this was so quickly I hardly felt it.

We all went straight to bed and the lights were switched off, but all of a sudden I felt a big warm creature get into my bed and cuddle me so quietly and snuggle up to me. It was Jamie!!!
I could recognize that sent anywhere. He whispered "you ok mate" and cuddled me laughing. He snuggled me so tightly I could have popped, he was like a baby to his teddy bear he held me so dear. As he put his arms round me for the first time I felt safe.

We were all warm and cuddly as every part of our body was touching... Even our feet!, we gently kissed but couldn't for long due to the noise but just cuddling was amazing. The night went so quickly but as I woke up I was alone, Jamie had moved not to cause suspicion. He sleeping in my bed cuddling and kissing me may have slightly caused rumours that we were a couple lol.

We marched out tired for about 3 miles up an icy path. Our patrol was in the snowy trenches protecting our land, well I'm not sure how because you could only see a few metres in front of you, so after five minutes we got bored and started playing poker. It was brilliant because for one second we all forgot about the war, I lost allot of chips (still proud because I never played it before), but of course Jamie passed me some as we shook hands ļ , yes it was cheating but I like to think of it as... helping. All of a sudden we heard footsteps coming from the trench; we all got up and aimed our guns preparing to shoot at whatever came. Suddenly it was one of our own solders but before he got to the trench he collapsed and died. We thought nothing of it as this happens allot but suddenly there was a voice in the distance and it said one word.....

GAS!

Suddenly the clang of canisters sounded hitting the trench floor as green clouds filled the trench and our fun was now reality of the war, it was too quick to do anything and I felt myself frozen in fear but I felt something grab me and force a gas makes on my face, it was Jamie. He held his breath, closed his eyes and held me tight. Before we knew it the gas had cleared... but to a worst fate because as it cleared it revealed some of our patrol... Dead or choking on their own blood. Jamie grabbed my arm and walked me away from them.

I slept most of the time in tent, just the thought of going out in the wilderness scares me, it scared everybody. I wanted to go back to our house, our fireplace our old lives. Where I would wake up with my hubbie next to the open fire as we drank hot chocolate and watched the sun rise over the fields. But was our house even there anymore or had it been reduced to dust?

I started crying in bed, I couldn't control my tears, Jamie ran straight up to me and gave me the world's biggest hug, without even talking he knew what was wrong and whispered in my ear "we are going to get through this, me and you ok?" tears started running down his face as well. "Me and you will stand by this and before you know it we will be cuddling remembering this day... Ok baby?". I nodded as I looked into his crystal blue eyes and just enjoyed his warmth and comfort. The sergeant blew the whistle and that was a sign to grab our guns. The men looked at us for the first time kissing and cuddling but there was no riot, no beatings, they knew love is love and I could tell by their face they knew that and accepted us.

Days past where we marched out and just stood there in the snow and ice... Frozen. We didn't know if we would come back alive or dead until finally the last week approached and the mood lifted.

We marched out starving and our feet tired our clinging to our guns for dear life, we march about 3 miles looking just up an icy path, we had to march quickly or our leather boots would stick to the ice. We got to what seemed like heaven, all of a sudden black figures appeared in the distance, but strangely enough not one person fired a shot, I mean we pointed our guns at them and they did at us but all of us were just immersed in the icy beauty... It was different than Yorkshire, It was heaven.
All of a sudden a shot was accidently fired and before I knew it everyone was shooting, A chain reaction caused one person to get everybody else shooting, Me and Jamie just fired randomly in the blizzard abis.

Gun shots fired from everywhere in the icy blizzard, we shot back , our fingers frozen , our lips sore fighting for less than one metre of land. Blood dyed the snow red as one by one our friends and allies dropped simply like fly's covered by the snow and after five minutes the snow covered them up and it was like nothing ever took place,

All of a sudden Jamie simply collapsed into the icy river, I forgot the bullets firing towards me, I forgot the war, and I just ran to his aid. His body was soaked in blood
I held his hand and didn't let go, He was lying in the icy snow next to me.
"Baby please stay awake.. Please stay awake"

Tears froze to my face as I was holding my angel in the blood drenched snow,
"baby I beg you... please stay awake... please don't leave me".

He simply muttered " i love you" and a crystal tear rolled down his soft face

I gently touched his icy face, gently kissed his sore lips and held him close to keep him warm as he slowly faded and fell sleep peacefully in the fluffy snow.

Within just 10 minutes I looked around the snow had buried everything within sight and it was like nothing had took place,

I was never let go of his hand for a second, so even in his departure, I would not let him go... I would not let him get lost.. I FUCKING WOULD'NT.

The snow got more severe and got to the point of hurting me as the ice crystals hit my face. I knew I had to make a choice quick, stay and die with my soul mate in his arms, or leave him alone in the snow and survive and carry on with my .. Now pointless life... I made my decision...

"David, I want you never to lie , steal or cheat to me.

And if you must cheat.. Then cheat death because I can't live a day without you.
