Too Perfect to be true. Part 5

(Part 2 from 4. Fiction.)

“Don’t worry it will happen. I think you’re too closely related to school for him. He’ll get over it though.” Will smiled.

“Where is Mr. Loverboy anyway?” Kate asked.

“Oh…” Will looked down and gently played with one of his shoelaces.

“No don’t tell me.”

“No it’s not like that.” Will started.

“C’mon Will.” Kate sighed.

“ I mean what is he supposed to do just ditch her?” Will stammered.

“Will!? He’s still dating Erin?”

“Yeah but. It isn’t real. It’s all for show.”

boy, you’re a real dumb ass you know that?” Kate shook her head appalled. “I mean, fuck Will. He’s spending the whole afternoon with her...what…taking her to movies, making out…whether it’s acting or not, it is what it is.”

“What is he supposed to do!? If he broke up with her his dad would flip!” Will said defensively.

“Yeah well maybe the kid needs to grow a pair and actually stand up for himself.”

“That’s not fair Kate.”

“No Will. What’s not fair is that he can spend a nice evening with you and you’re parents and then turn around and still fuck Erin on prom night. Have you thought about that?” Kate asked earnestly. She had dug deep. Will knew she was right and this angered him.

“I was just trying to tell you about last night.” Will said. He stood up from the bed.

“And I’m just trying to make you realize that you’re not living a dream…you still have a lot to figure out here.” Kate tossed beanie baby gently at Will. Will kicked the floor. He sighed over the anxiety of the situation. He just wished that he could skip all of the drama with Jacob.

“I hate you.” Will said smiling. He hated when Kate was right.

“Aw, I hate you more babe.” Kate giggled. She looked up at Will. “Just take it one step at a time. I just don’t want him to hurt you again.” Will turned his head. “But if he really loves you, then…I’m sure it will work out.” Kate smiled. Will fell back onto her bed and sighed.

“Seriously though…” He started. “I think my mom is wet for him.” He laughed.

David sat quietly on one of the desks in his history class. His teacher, Alex Ericson, had his face buried in his hands. Alex sat frustrated, tapping his foot impatiently.

“But how could he see? I had the blinds down.” Alex moaned. The previous week he and his student, David, were seen fucking on his desktop by another student.

“He’s a fucking asshole. I donno why he would tell.” David shrugged.

“David, I don’t think you understand what’s at stake here. I’ll loose my job in a second if this gets out.”

“Why? I’m legal!” David demanded.

“David! It has nothing to do with whether you’re legal or not. I’m your fucking teacher!” Alex kicked the trash bin next to his desk across the room.

David struggled to find words. He was so angry that this issue had risen. He was beginning to like his teacher and hadn’t been able to stop thinking about the time they spent together. The two had a playful attraction that went incredibly deep when they were alone together. David wanted that attraction to grow and be further explored.

“This sucks…” David mumbled immaturely.

“Oh please David, this will have nothing to do with you. I’ll get my ass kicked out onto the fucking street and you’ll walk away with the whole innocent teen act.”

“What? I would never do that!” David stammered.

“Really? So when they say that they’re going to fire me or expel you you’ll take the blame?” Alex laughed.

“No! They’re not going to find out!”

“How do you know?” Alex begged.

“Alex, it will be fine.”

Alex stopped and looked up at David. He sighed and put his hands down.

“David, you can’t…you can’t call me that. Not right now…please.”

David was taken back. He leaned forward on the desk and into Alex’s face. “Are you serious?”

“It’s too personal…I just…”

“What, you can stick your cock up my ass but I still gotta call you ‘Mr. Ericson’. Is that some kind of sick fucking joke? Fucking me on your desk isn’t personal but calling you by your first name is?” David spat.

“David, we just can’t do this anymore!” Alex looked sincerely into David’s eyes. He liked David, and thought about him all the time, but that’s what was disturbing him. He had finally gotten a full time position and didn’t want to blow it over some sort of puppy love with one of his students. He cringed to think how his family and friends would react if he lost his job that way. “We have to forget that it happened.” Alex sighed.

David stared at Alex, gripping the end of his desk. On the outside he showed an anger and cockiness, but on the inside he was feeling a great deal of grief and embarrassment. It wasn’t until that moment when David finally realized how much his feelings had actually grown for Alex. Now it felt as if Alex was tossing him aside.

“You know,” David started, “I came in here because I needed a friend to talk to. Call me crazy or call me just some ‘innocent teen’ but I really thought we had something going. I didn’t want for this to get out but don’t act like you’re the only one who’s going to get hurt by this. I’m in high school dumbass. Social fucking hell. And you know what? You’re really not so much older than me that you can’t remember that.” David jumped out of his desk and started to walk to the door. He turned around and looked at Alex Ericson who watched him blankly. “I came in here for help man. I knew this was going to be bad for you too but I was hoping we could figure this out together. I guess that was just really naive of me or something huh?”

Alex looked down at his desk. He flicked a sharpened pencil to the side. “Listen, David…”

“Nah man. Whatever. Don’t worry about it. I’ll make sure your little secret doesn’t get out.” David turned. “Later Mr. Ericson.” He opened the door and left room 23.

Will walked angrily from the parking lot to his school building. He wasn’t angry at Jacob…he wasn’t angry at himself…he was angry at Kate…for being right.

Jacob was talking to him, looking at him, and greeting him in the hallways all day…but there was something all too cool and distant about it. Will hated the act. It made his blood freeze. He thought he would be able to laugh along with it, but when Jacob threw him an unfamiliar “What’s up.” Will cringed rather than smiled. He knew Jacob was trying, and that meant a lot to him. However, when he watched Jacob take Erin’s arm, or introduce him as his “bro”, it left a brick sitting in his stomach.

During statistics the two had a hard time trying to keep the act up…which made the situation even more painful. They were partners on an activity and could barely focus on their work. They would begin to flirt and then have to pull back fast realizing that other classmates were watching curiously. Jacob would say some terrible “straight” cliché loudly and Will would laugh as if he was one of Jacob’s teammates. They had begun to look like the two stooges rather than two normal friends…but, at least they didn’t look like lovers.

Will noticed David pass him as he made his way to his art class. David looked up at Will and smiled apologetically. His gym bag was slung over his shoulder and he was holding a pair of running shoes. Will nodded prompting David to approach. David began to walk over slowly.

David lifted his bag uncomfortably further up onto his shoulder and tried to find the right words to say. “Will…I…” He started looking down at the ground.

“Hey man…don’t. It’s cool.” Will said.

“God…” David paused. “You’re so fucking nice, Will. I mean I’ve treated you like shit. Think about it man.” David said, still looking away.

“Yeah no kidding.” Will laughed. He noticed that David didn’t find it funny. “I know how tough it can be David. It’s okay.”

David finally looked up at Will. “How’s your eye dude?” He asked.

“Eh…I put some pees on it last night.”

“What?”

“Nevermind.” Will said, “What about yours?” Will laughed looking at David’s massive shiner.

David smiled. “Oh ‘ha ha’.” He said sarcastically. “You’re boyfriend has got one hell of an uppercut you know?”

“Yeah I know.” Will said.

David stared at Will for a moment. There was an awkward silence. “You’re really lucky Will. Jacob really cares about you.”

Will nodded. “It’s not as perfect as you think, though.” He said honestly. “We still have a lot to work out.”

“Yeah well…He’s a good guy.” David said. Will noticed David looked scared suddenly as he felt a large hand rest on his shoulder. Jacob had approached the two of them from behind.

“What do you want David?” Jacob asked simply. He wasn’t mean…but he wasn’t warm and friendly either.
